  • Mood: Big Grin

THIS JOURNAL ENTRY IS OUTDATED, PLEASE USE [link] INSTEAD

old archived page:

*If commissions are said to be "semi-open" or something akin to this, it means I'm open to more quick sketchy work but will likely deny very involved work.

Please read COMMISSION DETAILS below for important details before contacting me.

COMMISSION DETAILS
Types, prices, contact, etc

Timeframe for completion/Deadlines - Life circumstance permitting, it really depends on what kind of work I'm doing. Quick sketch/simple stuff shouldn't take very long, but more involved projects will take much longer. If you need something by a certain deadline LET ME KNOW BEFORE YOU PAY ME ANYTHING. I do not want to jump into a paying commission to find out that it needs doing in the next week and I'm already booked out for other things/don't have time. I will of course make my best effort to produce results in a timely manner. If you catch me at a good time, I may be able to work very quickly, and vice versa. If you ever feel the need, you can ask for status updates through MSN or through a note here on deviantART. I would avoid emailing me as I'm rather sporadic in checking my email.

Communication! - The more communication I have with whoever might be commissioning me, the better! Here's my MSN/Live Messenger ID if you can't find it: pyrosity@hotmail.com. Please send me a note through DA or comment on this journal beforehand so I know to add you to my list, I won't accept random friend requests from people I don't recognize.

Payment: Paypal, unless we can work out a special arrangement. You can pay up front, or even leave a "down-payment". I won't do much more than preliminary sketching/brainstorming until I receive some sort of payment, though. (You know, to keep people from bogging me down with stuff they don't end up wanting to pay for)

Delivery - Once complete I will send you a copy of the finished work at full resolution (usually around 600dpi for scanned works) which should be suitable for personal printmaking purposes*. I can mail you an original copy of traditional work if you really want, but note that you will have to work out the shipping charges yourself. IMPORTANT NOTE: I will post a lower-resolution copy in my gallery as an example of my work unless you explicitly state you do not want the finished work distributed. Remember, the reason I post the end result is in order to not only advertize my capabilities for paying clients, but also to showcase the gamut of my artistic ventures in an online gallery.
*I do not automatically give you permission to make or print copies of the finished commission for profit. If you want that right, you will have to get my explicit permission. Legal stuff, etc.

Media - Varies, but I usually do pencil drawings touched up with photoshop. If you want a specific style or media please specify. Remember my experience lies primarily in traditional pencil work. Digital can range from anything you see in my gallery, and you can opt for me to start with a pencil drawing and add color/shading digitally if you like.

Legal - I do not automatically give you any right to use commissioned work commercially or for any profit. If you want these rights, you MUST get my explicit permission. In the case that you do want the rights, contact me about it and we can arrange something. I may either give you the full ownership, or we may arrange some sort of royalty payment for usage. If you're just using the works personally for no profit, I do not mind at all. Examples of this allowed usage; using a commissioned drawing in a forum signature or avatar, using a commissioned flag design to illustrate a country's flag in a fictional work of your own freely distributed.

The following prices are subject to change, and should be taken as a rough estimate. Once you describe to me what you want, I'll give you a more accurate estimate of price, based on how much work I expect will be put into finishing it.

[Technical designs] (Galleries here and here)
  • Weapons (Small arms, cannons, mounted guns, etc) - $10-16
  • Vehicles (cars, trucks, tanks, helicopters, airplanes) - $14-20
  • Gadgets (equipment, devices, doohickys, etc) - $10-20

[Characters] - Human, Anthropomorphic ("furry"), creatures, sentient or otherwise.
  • Static full pose (standing, inactive, etc) - $12-18
  • Dynamic full pose (in action, moving, etc) - $15-25
  • Portrait (head, shoulders-up, etc) - $10-20

[Graphic Designs] (Gallery here)
  • Logos, flags, badges, emblems, etc - $10

Additional stuff: (prices HIGHLY variable)
-> Variations on a theme 1: Price goes up only slightly (dependant on number of variations and how much changes between them)
-> Just sketches 2: Price reduction ("thumbnail"/idea type work can be done quickly and for cheap)
-> Silhouette only 3: Price reduction by ~$5-10 (This can really cut down on costs because it's incredibly simple to do silhouettes)
-> Perspective 3: Increase cost by ~$5-20 (isn't so bad for simple sketches, but for involved pieces of technical work this can really ramp up the workload)
-> Color 4: Flat colors ~$5-10, more involved colors ~$10-20 (dependant on the size and complexity of work)
-> Shading 5: Similar to coloring (and linked to it at times), so follow the above.
-> Background 6: Increase cost by ~$5-20 (depending on background complexity)
-> Original vs. existing: Having me draw something that exists - either in the real world or as your own creation, etc things that can be referenced from outside - is easier than having me draw something with no reference at all. This varies too much to put any sort of estimated cost change on.
-> Combinations: Ask me about any specific combination of drawings/etc in regards to a single commission. Often, doing things in "bulk" (such as a series of weapon designs for, say, a game) will cut costs.

It's impossible to waste ammo, it can only be expended at a highly inconvenient rate.
